Air Fryer Recipe

Herb Chicken Drumsticks Air Fryer Style

October 4, 2019

If you have never eaten chicken drumsticks cooked in the air fryer, then this is the recipe to try! The drumsticks come out of the air fryer juicy and crispy and a very tasteful blend of herbs and spices cover the drumsticks with flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin

Instructions:

  1. Preheat air fryer at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes while you are getting everything else ready.
  2. In a small dish, combine the herbs and spices. Then set the dish aside.
  3. Place the chicken drumsticks in a bowl or plastic bag. Next, drizzle the drumsticks with the olive oil. Toss the bowl or shake plastic bag to coat the chicken drumsticks.
  4. Sprinkle the herbs and spices over the drumsticks to coat them. Make sure each drumstick is well coated by stirring the bowl or shaking the plastic bag.
  5. Next, place the drumsticks in the air fryer basket making sure not to crowd them so the air is able to move evenly around the drumsticks. Cook for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
  6. Then, remove the basket and flip the drumsticks and cook at 400 degrees for another 10 minutes.
  7. With a meat thermometer, check the internal temperature of the drumsticks. If chicken is not 165 degrees internally, add another 5 minutes of cook-time. Time can vary based on drumstick size, so check the temperature after each cooking to prevent over or under cooking.
  8. When chicken has reached 165 degrees internally, serve immediately and enjoy.

Author’s Notes:

  • Preheat your air fryer by running your air fryer for a few minutes before adding the drumsticks so it is hot and ready to go when you are ready to add your chicken drumsticks.
  • Try to avoid opening the air fryer basket during cooking so as not to let the hot air escape. Trust the timing of the recipe.
  • In step 3, I used a plastic bag to coat the drumsticks with oil and herbs and spices. After that was completed, the plastic bag was thrown away.
