Air Fryer Crispy Fried Chicken

This is my first Air Fryer Post. This Fried Chicken recipe comes out of the Air Fryer looking golden brown and crispy. On the inside, the chicken is tender and moist. This is a good alternative to deep frying chicken in oil.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons of Old Bay Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoning Salt
  • 1 egg
  • 4 pieces Chicken legs (thighs or breasts)
  • Canola, Coconut, or Peanut Oil ( in mister or spray bottle)I

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Air Fryer to 380 degrees F.
  2. Make sure the chicken is dry by patting it with a paper towel. Then set the chicken pieces on a plate or a shallow tray.
  3. Pour the following ingredients into a large bowl, Old Bay Seasoning, Seasoning Salt, and flour. Whisk them to combine the ingredients.
  4. In a separate large bowl, beat the egg.
  5. Put the chicken pieces through a 3-step dredging process. First, drop a few pieces into the flour mixture and return them to the plate. Continue this process until all pieces have been dredged in the flour. Next, dredge the pieces in the egg. Finally, drop them back into the flour for a final coating and shake off the excess flour.
  6. Finally, spray all of the pieces of chicken with the oil. Be sure that each piece gets covered completely.
  7. Place the chicken into the bottom of the Air Fryer compartment on the grate.
  8. Set your Air Fryer to cook for 25 minutes, or until chicken reaches 180 degrees F internal temperature. Use a meat thermometer to be sure of the 180 F temperature has been reached.
  9. It is going to be hot, so be careful as you remove the fried chicken from the Air Fryer.
  10. Serve hot.

Notes from the Author:

  • I used 4 large chicken thighs for this recipe.
  • I used olive oil to spay my chicken thighs.
  • I will double the amount of seasonings that is added to the flour for more flavoring the next time I use this recipe.
  • I cooked my chicken at 360 degrees F. and increased my time by 5 minutes and used a thermometer to make sure the chicken had reached 180 degrees F internal temperature.
