Decorated Halloween Cupcakes

There are so many ways to decorate halloween cupcakes but I wanted to share something easy and a little more practical. You don't need frosting piping skills to decorate these and they are made with treats we all love!

And you have two choices of frosting flavors here. You can go for the standard vanilla or my personal favorite was the orange (that chocolate orange combo is quite delicious).

The cupcake batter is made in one bowl using a whisk, then you just need a hand mixer for the frosting. So it's a basic recipe with simple tools that makes delicious results! It may just become your go-to cupcake recipe in general and just change up the tint and decoration according to the holiday or occasion.

These are such a tempting Halloween treat in so many ways and they are the perfect thing to bring along to a party. Everyone will want to savor every chocolatey bite!

Peanut Butter Pie https://www.cookingclassy.com/peanut-butter-pie/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/peanut-butter-pie/#comments Tue, 27 Oct 2020 03:44:11 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=57660 No bake Peanut Butter Pie - it's decadently delicious, smooth and fluffy, ultra rich, and perfectly peanut buttery. It's made with just FIVE ingredients and couldn't be easier!

Looking for another super simple pie to make? Try my popular Chocolate Mousse Pie too!

Easy Peanut Butter Pie

A dreamy, luscious pie that has an overload of peanut butter flavor and a chocolatey Oreo crust to pair with it. It almost taste like eating a Reese's but in pie form!

This pie is great for those times when you want in impressive dessert but you only want to put in bare minimal effort.

The crust is already made so all you need to do is whip the cream, mix the remaining ingredients then fold it all together and spread over the crust.

Then of course can decorate as you wish - using things such as sweetened whipped cream, warmed peanut butter, fudge sauce, chocolate ganache, mini Reese's or Reese's Pieces, or chopped roasted peanuts.

Or leave it topping free and no one will be complaining. This pie is temptingly tasty!

Oreo Balls Oreo Truffles https://www.cookingclassy.com/oreo-truffles-two-ways/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/oreo-truffles-two-ways/#comments Wed, 11 Dec 2019 15:00:00 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/2012/12/oreo-truffles-two-ways/ Oreo Balls AKA Oreo Truffles are the perfect treat for any occasion! They only require THREE ingredients, they couldn't be easier to make and they taste unbelievably delicious. They're always the first thing to go at parties and I'm yet to meet someone who doesn't love them!

Oreo balls stacked on a turquoise plate set over a blue cloth. Oreo balls are coated in both milk chocolate and white chocolate.

Oreo Balls Made Two Ways

These really are one of our favorite treats! People go crazy over them and they're always amazed to learn how simple they are.

Everywhere I take them they are always loved by people of all ages. My brother who doesn't care for desserts is always asking me to makes these.

You just can't go wrong with this recipe. It only makes sense because they're made up of all delicious things - Oreos, cream cheese and chocolate!

If you've never made truffles before or dipped candies in chocolate this is a great place to start! The recipe is so straight forward. Once you try these you'll be hooked!

These truffles are deliciously rich, perfectly chocolatey and the addition of cream cheese just makes them sing. Who new something so incredibly easy could be so incredibly tasty?

My personal favorite are the Oreo balls dipped in white chocolate, it's keeps that classic cookies and cream flavor going. But of course chocolate is delicious too, you get a double chocolate flavor.

For the Christmas season you should try the peppermint version (see photo at the bottom of this post), all you have to do is add a little peppermint extract to the truffle mixture then garnish with crushed candy canes before the chocolate sets.

And finally for once the saying is true it's this "as easy as pie."

Chocolate Mousse Pie

A Heavenly Chocolate Pie

The filling is just made up of a few basic ingredients - chocolate chips, marshmallows, butter, milk, cream, vanilla. You know all the good things in life.

You don't need to chop chocolate, you don't need to gently heat or whip any eggs as in many mousse recipes, and you don't eve need to make a pie crust!

I decided if we are going the Oreo crust route what's the point in homemade right?

Chocolate Mousse Pie

So you see, this is definitely the pie you want to try this year right. Along with my Pumpkin Pie and Crumb-Topped Apple Slab Pie of course :). People need options, and three slices of pie on Thanksgiving.

If you've got people that love chocolate in your family they will go crazy over this pie. I know because I'm obsessed with chocolate and I was swooning over every single bite!

It's fluffy. It's rich. It's oh so chocolatey. It's sweet. It's creamy. To sum it up it's basically pie perfection.

Recipe from Sally's New Cookbook!

I've been following Sally's blog for years, practically since she first started it and I'm always amazed by everything she shares.

Her pictures are beautiful and her desserts always leave me wishing I could reach through the computer screen and grab what's in front of me.

Her first cookbook - Sally's Baking Addiction cookbook (the one pictured above) has been re-released as paperback version and updated with an additional eight brand-new cookie recipes added, so there's never been a better time to buy a copy (she has a second cookbook which I have and love as well and a third cookbook in the works)!

Sally is a baking queen, if you are ever on Pinterest you are always sure to come across several of her amazing recipes. This cookbook includes breakfast baked treats, cakes and cupcakes, bars, pies, candy and sweet snacks, and plenty of cookie recipes and each recipe is paired with a photo that will leave you wanting to try it all!

It's definitely a cookbook I highly recommend adding to your cookbook collection!

Try out this Cookies 'N Cream Cheesecake recipe and you'll be agreeing with me on that one. You can purchase Sally's Baking Addiction cookbook from Amazon or Barnes and Noble. You can also check out her blog here for more info and pictures from her cookbook.

Cookies ‘N Cream Cheesecake

A cheesecake that's likely to become one of your new favorite desserts! It's perfectly rich and creamy and it's brimming with plenty of chocolatey Oreo cookies. This ones a showstopper that's worthy of any celebration!

Crust

  • 20 Oreo cookies ((regular or Double Stuf))
  • 5 Tbsp butter, (melted)

Filling

  • 24 oz. (675g) cream cheese, (softened)
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 cup (240g) sour cream or plain full-fat yogurt
  • 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 18 Oreo cookies, (crumbled (regular or Double Stuf), crumbled)
  • Whipped cream, (for topping (optional))
  1. For the crust: Adjust the oven rack to the lower third position and preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place a 9-inch springform in the center of a large sheet of heavy duty aluminum foil (about 18 by 18-inches). Carefully wrap foil around sides of cheesecake pan*, spray inside with non-stick spray.

  3. In a food processor or blender, pulse 20 Oreos to fine crumbs. In a medium mixing bowl stir together the Oreo crumbs and melted butter until well combined.
  4. Press mixture into an even layer in bottom of prepared springform pan. Bake in preheated oven 9 - 10 minutes then allow to cool as you prepare the filling.

  5. For the filling: In a mixing bowl, using a hand-held electric mixer or a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.
  6. Add in the sour cream or yogurt and the vanilla and mix well. Add eggs one at a time and mix on low speed just until combined.

  7. Gently fold in 13 crumbled Oreo cookies. Do not over-mix. Pour the filling into the cooled crust.
  8. Place the springform pan into a large roasting pan and place in the oven. Fill the roasting pan up with hot water until the water level comes about halfway up the outside of the cheesecake pan.
  9. Bake in preheated oven 50 - 60 minutes, or until the center is almost set. Turn the oven off and open the door slightly. Let the cheesecake rest in the oven for 1 hour.
  10. Remove from oven and allow to cool completely at room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  11. Loosen the cheesecake from the rim of the pan and remove the rim. Top with whipped cream, crumble remaining 5 Oreos and sprinkle over cheesecake. Cut into slices and serve chilled.
  12. Cover the cheesecake and store in refrigerator up to 4 days.
  1. Be careful not to create any holes in the foil, the whole purpose of the foil is to prevent water from leaking in to the cheesecake so if it tears water will leak in through the separation in the bottom of the pan.
  2. Nutrition is based off of regular Oreos does not include whipped cream topping.
  3. Recipe source: recipe is excerpted from Sally's Baking Addiction cookbook by Sally McKenney. Reprinted with permission from Race Point Publishing.

Mint Chip Cheesecake Mousse

Can you tell? I kind of have a thing for cheesecake mousse/no bake cheesecakes/anything remotely related to cheesecake. It's true, I'm totally obsessed!
I love the mint chocolate chip combination so it only makes sense to combine that with cheesecake. I thought of doing a baked cheesecake with these flavors but I love these elegant individual servings and I also love the texture of a whipped up mousse. If you are looking for a dessert to make this weekend (or for any upcoming holiday or celebration) make these! They are irresistibly amazing to say the least!

This is perfect for holiday parties or Christmas dinners. Who could resist a slice?

Peppermint Bark Cheesecake | Cooking Classy

The Perfect Christmas Cheesecake!

Nothing welcomes a celebration the way an over-the-top cheesecake does! Am I right or am I right? Cheesecake is one of my favorite kinds of cake.

It's always a dessert that you want to savor each and every little spec of it and not a crumb goes wasted. I mean I wouldn't complain if a generous slice of it found its way to my dinner table every night - er, until my waistline started disagreeing with that I suppose.

But that is why these are perfect for the holidays, yes they are indulgent but in moderation, they are worth every calorie!

If you like cheesecake or peppermint bark you simply have to try this heavenly cheesecake! It's the perfect blend of the two and of course it's perfectly festive for the holidays. Even though I just barely made this I'm thinking I have no choice but to make it again for Christmas.

I don't eat like that often but when it's something like this there's just no way I can resist. Cheesecake is like my ultimate weakness (okay that and chocolate and salted caramel. Oh, and cheese and pizza. Ok my weaknesses are endless but you get the point). But these cheesecakes you simply have to try! Basically your holidays will be like 10 times better if you serve up these decadent, easy to make cheesecakes :).

No Bake Peppermint White Chocolate Cheesecakes (with White Chocolate Dipped Mini Oreos) | Cooking Classy

Holidays for me are all about the food and this one is definitely something worthy of serving on Christmas day or at any holiday party. You will love how easy these are to prepare. They require no baking at all, just a good chilling in the refrigerator to get that silky smoothy and dreamy texture.

Everyone is going to go nuts over these! I was telling my mom I was making these today and telling her what was in them, and we were both saying "there's just no way you can go wrong". Oreos, cream, cream cheese, white chocolate, sugar and peppermint flavor - see what I mean? Not the healthiest of things by any means but hey, this is the holidays! We go all in... and we also get our stretchy pants out (aren't leggings just the best? The only thing that was every right about the 80's).

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I love Thanksgiving, what food lover doesn't? So basically who in the world doesn't :)? I decided to start the pre-holiday right today, we had BLT's for dinner and these. Gotta keep it light and healthy so I can feast tomorrow.

Ha if only that could be considered light. One of my favorite meals ever, though. Bacon followed by cheesecake. And not just any cheesecake, Black Forest Cheesecakes!

Mississippi Mud Pie https://www.cookingclassy.com/mississippi-mud-pie/ https://www.cookingclassy.com/mississippi-mud-pie/#comments Mon, 04 Nov 2013 15:14:24 +0000 https://www.cookingclassy.com/?p=9581 Mississippi Mud Pie is loaded with luxurious flavors—look at all those layers! Starting with a chocolate cookie crust, the flourless chocolate cake is settled onto the pie crust. Then smooth and creamy chocolate pudding is spread and set on the thick cake. Finally, whipped cream is smoothed across the top to complete the cream layers. Forget all about your chocolate pie recipes, because this mud pie recipe will win the prize!

I wish I would have gotten a cleaner slice, but sometimes the beauty of food, like people, is imperfect. All I really care about are the amazing textures of and decadent flavors of this pie! It's the perfect treat for chocolate lovers.

Mississippi Mud Pie | Cooking Classy

Mississippi Mud Pie Recipe

The crisp Oreo crust, the incredibly fudgy, flourless cake, layered with a thick and creamy, decadent chocolate pudding and then it's finished with a fluffy, sweet whipped cream. Yes, this pie is chocolate Heaven!

My kids love to crush Oreos to get the cookie crumbs for the iconic Oreo cookie crust "dirt", but you can also buy premade pie crusts for a shortcut. You can also choose Cool Whip to minimize ingredients and speed up the instructions.

I'd highly recommend this recipe, and with the holidays coming up you'll have the perfect excuse to make such a luxurious and indulgent pie. Add sprinkles for a birthday, or a drizzle of hot fudge sauce for even more chocolate. Nuts, strawberry sauce, or chopped candy bars can also cut the richness. Kids love gummy worms for their mud pies!

Yes, it has got to be the longest recipe I've ever posted and it is rather time-consuming but once you'll try it, you'll realize it is totally worth it. Bring this pie to your holiday gatherings to balance out the pumpkin pie and fruit pies in the spread—everyone needs some chocolate for their sweet tooth!
